Jessica Watson completes historic round-the-world voyage

1:53pm AEST Saturday 15 May 2010

16-year-old sailor Jessica Watson crossed the finish line at 1:53pm (exactly 13:53:28 AEST) in Sydney Harbour today, putting her into the history books as the youngest person to sail unassisted around the world.

Tens of thousands of people lined the shores of Sydney Harbour to greet her.

A horn was sounded as Jessica's yacht, Ella's Pink Lady, crossed the finishing line to signify the end of her almost 23,000 nautical mile journey.

Jessica's journey started from Sydney on 18 October last year.

Today marks day 210, and is 3 days before Jessica Watson's 17th birthday on 18 May.
